Huge Universal Orlando Resort Sale

299/365 I may earn a small commission on affiliate links contained in this post. Thank you so much for supporting my blog! Get Away Today is having a crazy sale on Universal Orlando tickets through the end of the month. If you're planning to go to Universal Orlando before the end of this year (December 20, 2019), this sale is for you! Buy 2 Days, Get 3 Days Free This is insane. We went for three days in February, but we certainly could have used more time. With this sale, you can pay for a two day ticket, but you get a five day ticket. This includes Park-to-Park and Base tickets (basically like Park Hopper vs one park per day Disneyland tickets) and 2-Park and 3-Park tickets to include Volcano Bay…

2018 Top Nine

96/365 Over on Instagram, everyone (and their dog) is posting their Top Nine. I went to the app associated with the concept and generated mine, too. It was very boring, with some of my Swagbucks and deals posts showing up as the most popular in my feed this year. So I decided that I would make my own Top Nine. These are my nine favorite travel pictures of 2018: 1. Family Wedding In July, we headed over to San Diego to attend Bryan's cousin's wedding. It was a blast! We rented a house on VRBO that was only a mile from the beach with two other cousin families. You can read my trip report here. 2. Tomorrowland In February, we took our last trip on our Annual Passes to Disneyland.…

Using the Chase Travel Portal to Book a Last Minute Getaway

91/365 This week, I'd been watching the weather report for snow in Flagstaff, a mountain college town about 100 miles north of Phoenix. Ever since we took the trip to Chico and toured Bryan's alma mater, I've had a hankering to do the same at Northern Arizona University, from which I matriculated. Watching the Weather Christmas Day had rain in the forecast, because it has been very warm so far this winter. Usually if there is rain down in Phoenix, it's snowing up in the mountains, but we've had 70° days here in the desert, which means it's too warm for snow, even in the mountains. Finally, the forecast for today and tomorrow showed snow for Flagstaff. Yay! I started searching hotel availability in the wee hours of Christmas Day,…

About Me

Hello, I’m Debra! My husband once remarked, “I think you love planning vacations more than the actual vacation!” Wise words, and maybe a little bit true. I was born, raised, and still live in Phoenix, Arizona, and grew up taking family vacations to Disneyland. Now I love to share my love of all things Disney with my husband and two kids. We take trips to Disneyland at least once a year, made it over to the East coast in 2016 to introduce the kids to Disney World, and even sprung for annual passes to Disneyland in 2017. My Current Travel Goal Now, my goal is to spend back-to-back years of Disney starting in September 2019: Consecutive Annual Passes to Disneyland and Disney World. And they ain’t cheap. The highest…

[Expired] No Purchase Fees on Visas at Staples for Two Weeks!

Day 36/365 For the next two weeks (11/3-16/2019), you can rack up the credit card rewards by purchasing fee-free Visa gift cards at Staples. Visa gift cards are my favorite kind, and while this is not a money-maker, it can earn you valuable travel rewards when you use a Chase Ultimate Rewards strategy! Earn Ultimate Rewards for Travel I use my Chase Ink Business Plus to get 5x Chase Ultimate Rewards at office supply stores. While Chase no longer offers this card, you could use my referral to get the Business Preferred (which does not get 5x at office supply stores), and then downgrade to the no annual fee Business Cash (which does get 5x at office supply stores), as long as you have another premium Chase card, like Chase…

GasBuddy

Day 12/365 When we go on road trips, and even around town at home, we frequently use an app called GasBuddy. GasBuddy keeps track of gas stations and can help you locate one with the best price, location, and brand. I love getting gas at the Chevron near Ehrenburg on the way to Disneyland before hitting those high-priced Cali stations. As you can see, they're up to a dollar more a gallon! Useful in Unfamiliar Cities We used so many of the features in GasBuddy on our recent tour of National Parks in northern California and southern Oregon. I wanted to find a gas station nearby that had a good price and I could use one of my gas gift cards, plus we needed to see how close we could…

Flying or Driving, Which Is Cheaper?

329/365 I'll start off by saying that of course this question is going to depend on a lot of factors. However, if you have all of the facts, you can determine for yourself which is best for each of your trips. In this article, I'll go into depth on the costs of each and how they factor into your decision to fly or drive on your next trip. My Dilemma With the new Southwest schedule coming out last week, I'm in a dilemma about our upcoming trips to Disneyland from our hometown of Phoenix. While I love the luxury of flying for each trip, I am getting antsy about using so many points to pay for the flights, and the opportunity cost lost to other redemptions. However, I'm not loving…
