OfficeMax and Office Depot have the Visa “Everywhere” line of cards on sale this week through Saturday, June 1, 2019. These cards are limited to certain category of merchants, so they are not as versatile as the regular Visa gift cards.
The Deal
These Visas come in variable load varieties, so you’ll can get two $200 in order to meet the minimum $300 spend requirement and maximize your credit card rewards. The fee for each card is $4.95, and you’ll get an instant discount of $12 at the register, so you will net $2.10.
Earning Rewards
Sweeten this deal using a credit card that gets a category reward at office supply stores. I use my Chase Ink Business Plus, which unfortunately is not available anymore. However, you can apply for the Chase Ink Business Preferred to get the great signup bonus, and then downgrade to the Chase Ink Business Cash for 5x at office supply stores (up to $25,000 per year). Pair this card with an Ultimate Rewards earning card like Chase Sapphire Preferred, and you’ve got a great one-two punch in your wallet.
Limitations
These cards are not like the ones I usually buy. They are limited to the categories printed on the package, such as movies, fuel, dining, or entertainment. I probably won’t bother with this deal since I like to liquidate my Visa gift cards at Walmart to buy money orders, and you can’t use these cards for that. If you have a specific use for a certain category, then it is definitely worth it!
