Bank of America “Museums on Us” Free Weekend

344/365

On the first full weekend of each month, Bank of America offers free admission into several museums around the country. The program is called Museums on Us. If you are a Bank of America customer, you need to check it out!

Program Details

All you need is a Bank of America credit or debit card and a photo ID. I have the Alaska Airlines Visa, and Bryan is an authorized user, so we can get two free admissions. The program terms state that only the cardmember is free, so unless you have a card for each member of your family, you will have to pay for their admission.

Find Your Museum

We first used this program several years ago at the Musical Instrument Museum in Scottsdale when it was brand new. It sadly isn’t on the list anymore, but there are quite a few good ones in our area. The Heard Museum and the Phoenix Art Museum are high on our list to visit now. We’ve been to the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, although our visit wasn’t during a free weekend. You can find the full list here to see what museums are available near you.

Free Museums on Trips

Another fun thing to consider is to look at the list while you are planning a trip. If you are going to be in another city during the first full weekend of the month, you could check out a museum or two while there. You might not plan a trip around the free museums, but there are some gems to be found on the list. For example, we visited the Birch Aquarium in San Diego on a free first weekend during a trip. We’ve been to a few of the big ones on the list, like the Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute of Chicago, The Met, and the Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum. Check one of them out next time you’re in another town around the first of the month.
